Janet Keith is a contemporary British painter. Her painting is a response to the visual excitement and beauty of her surroundings. Her artistic roots are in outdoor painting, taking inspiration directly from life. Recently though, Janet has been exploring a more abstract approach in the studio using sketches from life as a starting point .
The paintings reveal Janet's enjoyment of the forms, colours and patterns suggested by nature and her translation of these observations into rich visual images.
A Brighton based reviewer described the work as, '...Paintings with terrific colour sense; contemporary, vibrant and now, all sunny lightness...'
Janet lives in rural Sussex near the coast and the South Downs National Park which provide much of the inspiration for her work. She has Degrees in both the History of Art and Painting.
